The project interprets the Mediterranean spirit through contemporary, clean design. The garden is envisioned as a private escape from the urban pace, where the stillness of concrete and stone balances the softness and fragrance of plants. The central theme centers on transitions – moving from the large verandas to open zones where sunlight, textures, and the wind form the landscape's foundation.

01

Design Concept

The design seeks a solution that transforms the courtyard into a protected and intimate space, inspired by the patio culture of the South.

The architectural framework of the house and verandas dictates the flow of movement while ensuring complete isolation from the outside world.

Stepping into the garden is designed as a sensory experience, where nature smoothly embraces the clean construction forms.

02

Spatial Structure

The garden follows the natural flow of movement around the house.

The entrance and parking area remain understated, with the pavement blending smoothly into the green spaces. The primary connection between inside and outside unfolds through the large verandas.

By carefully balancing levels and steps, the yard functions as a sequence of spaces that reveal themselves step by step. The layout moves from an open front lawn near the summer living areas toward quieter, private corners along the perimeter, where the scent of herbs brings a sense of ease.

03

Design Approach

The design consciously balances the static architectural forms of the building with the dynamic nature of the landscape.

The project solution avoids unnecessary ornamentation. The outdoor spaces offer functional choices to the residents without competing with one another or cluttering the visual space.

Consequently, the exterior feels like a natural and serene extension of the interior.

04

Plantings

The plant selection accommodates a warm and dry climate.

Instead of decorative filler, the concept utilizes large plant masses organized in a distinct visual rhythm.

The purple blooms of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) form a clean line along the pathways. Their structure is softened by the dense, silver-gray carpet of lamb's ear (Stachys byzantina), whose velvety texture spills past the garden beds. The angel grass (Stipa tenuissima) catches the slightest breeze and filters the sunlight.

Trees and shrubs establish volume and scale deeper within the property.

Sustainable evergreen arrays are utilized to form dense living walls for privacy and visual protection.

The accent species are precisely selected for seasonal variability, introducing a dialogue between bloom, leaf texture, and structural forms throughout the year.

05

Pavings

The paving approach is clean and structured, weaving the separate sections into a single, cohesive system. It relies on a combination of open lawn surfaces, pavement, and areas with mineral mulch. Strategically integrated rock fragments and natural stones provide an earthy quality. The raw luxury of the environment emerges from the direct contrast between refined concrete lines and the natural texture of stone.

The modern aesthetic of the building demanded a landscape that complements rather than competes with it. Through clean lines and powerful plant masses, we transformed the surrounding space into a living, sensory extension of the architecture.
